THE COACH
"It was the weakest and most insipid effort I've ever seen from a group of players. We came really confident and gave ourselves a real chance.  We can't just forget it.  I'm going to stick with group and give them opportunities but they have to repay the faith.  I'll know at 5pm next week after playing Port just what effect this embarrassment, this crap they served up today, had on them.  If they serve the same crap up next week that will mean there's a huge question mark over every one of their heads on what it means to them to play for Glenelg."

COMMENTS
Despite outscoring Sturt after half-time, Glenelg were crushed by 72 points.  While keeping Glenelg goal-less in first half the Double Blues kicked 10 goals to 1 point in the second quarter to set up the victory.

Kane Cornes was a late withdrawal due to being called up to play in Showdown XI and this enabled Craig Statham to make his league debut.

In the first half Glenelg could do no right.  The Tigers led early when captain James Byrne ran into an open goal only to register a behind.  Sam Logan in the second term missed a set shot from 45 metres out.  Glenelg's second and last score of the half.  The second quarter was a training session for the Double Blues.

To add to Glenelg woes ruckman Brad Smith was stretchered from the ground at the 16th minute mark of the third quarter with a suspected knee injury.  Marcus Baldwin rucked for the remainder of the game whilst Matthew Golding was moved to full-back to curb the influence of Stephen White (6 goals).

The frustration of many Glenelg players was noticeable in the second half when many minor scuffles broke out.  'Dicey' umpiring decisions seemed to be partly responsible for the frustration as well as Glenelg's inability to reduce the deficit.

The Tigers can look ahead to round 6 when they take on archrival Port Adelaide at Brighton Road.
