There's not many of these around. They look like small kookaburras, but their feathers are bright blues and greens with greys. Some kingfishers make tunnels in the banks of creeks and nest in them. Places to make nests this way are hard for the kingfisher to find. Hopefully he will like the nest you have made for him. Kingfishers eat mainly insects, beetles and the occasional worm.

SPECIAL NOTES
Face the hole slightly down if possible. Kingfishers are not scared of heights. 5 to 10 metres high is ideal.
