However it was not without a unique protest from one of the largest markets for Land-Rover - Australia. It seems that Australians in the Outback had found one item that they no longer had to pack if they travelled by Land-Rover. Their method of cooking meat over an open fire required a grid of some type and it came to pass that the Land-Rover wire-mesh radiator grille was ideal. Is it any wonder that there was a voice of protest from Australia! For when the Outback Aussie threw his new Series III plastic grill onto the fire to cook his sausages, to his amazement it shriveled and flowed into the embers!
