INTRODUCTION

This site is dedicated to improving Tata owners' knowledge of the Indian Locomotive Company's line of light 4WD vehicles that use the petrol and diesel 2 litre, 4 cylinder engine developed in the mid 90's. I've never seen a service manual for this vehicle. In fact, there seems to be general negativity surrounding them in some Australian areas.

The old addage "Ignorance breeds contempt" seems to apply here for I have found people who have never had a Tata seem more negative towards them than those who drive them.

True, they are a very cheap vehicle to buy so what's missing? It's simple, you get seats that fall apart, brittle, plastic door and dash trim, no rust prevention, UV unstable plastics and a lower standard of technology. That's why a dual-cab, diesel, turbo, 1 (genuine) tonne Tata is available in Australia for less than AUD$25,000! Some people like a vehicle like this. What do you like?
