Eleanor & Ray - fixture coordinators for the RLTA Monday Evening Mixed Competition |
Our Monday Night fixtures cater for the intermediate to the advanced tennis players in our club. The fixtures are played around a very enjoyable evening’s tennis and most of the players stay on for a couple of cold refreshments after the matches.
Teams consist of five players of which four play on any given Monday night. Matches consist of 8 sets, each of which is 8 games (two serves each) with short deuce. Each player plays 4 sets during the evening. The teams are selected by the Monday night committee from the list of available players at the beginning of each season. Two fixture seasons are held each year with the winner being the first past the post. Trophies are presented on the last fixture night of the season. The competition is relatively relaxed and the atmosphere is very friendly.
Contact Ray or Eleanor (3245 1636) or the Pro Shop (3821 0337) if you are interested in playing.
First Season 2012 - Updated 28/01/2012
Guess what - more changes!!! The draw, teams & reserves for this season are now available on the internet. Hopefully there will be no more changes at this stage. This season we will again have 17 teams with a bye. One major change is that we will play only 1 round of tennis finishing on the 4th June. The following week (11th June) is the Queen's Birthday and we will have Social Tennis with the presentation of trophies commencing at 8pm. Please bring a small plate for supper. A round robin mixed tournament will be held on the 18th June. Rule Change: If any #1 player plays on a night when the #1s are rostered off, then a penalty will apply to the team playing the #1. At the completion of the match, four (4) games will be deducted from the score of the team playing the #1 and four (4) games will be added to the team not playing a #1. If both teams play a #1 then the score card will remain the same
at the completion of the match. This penalty will apply even if the teams have discussed and agreed to this prior to the night. However this discussion should happen as a matter of courtesy. Thank you, Eleanor, Ray & the Monday Night Committee.
