History of the Redlands Lawn tennis Association

Anyone with old photo's or material please contact the office as we are looking for more recollections of our bygone era!

COMPILED BY DONNA EMBLETON President '94-'96 Donna would like to thank Mr. & Mrs. Banks for their efforts in compiling articles which occurred during the early years of the Association.

The Association was founded in 1936 on 2 courts adjacent to the Cleveland Primary School and over the years some very dedicated friends of tennis in the Redlands put many years of hard work into building what is now a wonderful facility at the Showgrounds.

The Association boasts 8 all weather courts, all floodlit to a high standard and a large clubhouse with all amenities including enclosed play area for children. This user friendly facility is located in the heart of the Redland Showgrounds in Cleveland and has been home to numerous competitions and events. The following is a memorial to all who so selflessly gave their time and energy in creating what we, at times, take for granted today!

If any person reading this has any information, photos or articles about the Association that we can add please contact RLTA (call 3821 0337) I would like to keep this page as up to date and accurate as possible! There is a large gap in our historical information from 1940 - 1965 if any one has relevant articles newspaper clippings of this era please contact us!

The following articles & pictorials are treasures that have been scanned "as is" and some are of poor quality, however, they are still legible and offer historical & sentimental value:
