The Redlands Lawn Tennis Association complex is
currently undergoing a major redevelopment.
| Stage 1.
2003 |
The fences around
court 1, 2, 3 & 4 were replaced with black poly-coated chain wire
to help blend in to the background and to better
withstand the ravishes of the salt laden sea air
down at our bayside location at Cleveland
Showgrounds. |
 |
| Stage 2.
2003 |
We relocated and
rebuilt two courts (courts 6 & 7). These two
courts were moved 20m northwards to make room
for a new centrally located clubhouse. At the
same time, they were dropped 600mm to provide a
better viewing profile for what has become the
show courts at the RLTA. The site is now
comprised of four separate levels, providing a
much better contour on our hillside location.
New improved environmentally friendly lights
were installed on courts 5, 6, 7 & 8.
Landscaping the perimeter with appropriate
attractive tennis-friendly shrubs took another
step forward with the planting of 50 trees along
our new northern boundary.

| Stage 3.
2004 - 2005 |
The new clubhouse
was constructed. This part of the redevelopment
project commenced in October 2004 and was
completes by April 2005. The new clubhouse has
extensive verandas, great cross-flow
ventilation, a new pro-shop and office, a
multi-purpose activity space, modern amenities
and change rooms, and offers significant
increases in the shaded viewing areas. Exciting
stuff!

| Stage 4.
2005 |
With some help of
the State Government, new
environmentally-friendly lights were installed
on courts 1 to 4 to bring them up to
the international standards as we had already
done on other courts.
|
 |
| Stage 5.
2007 |
Court 8 was
converted from hard court to synthetic grass,
bringing it in line with our other 7 courts. |
 |
| Stage 6.
2008 |
Court 1 (the first
of our four original decomposed granite courts)
was rebuilt with a new compacted road base and
contoured to facilitate more effective water
run-off.
|
 |
| Stage 7.
2008 |
Redevelopment of
the former clubhouse to provide a ground store
for the RLTA and administrative headquarters for
the Spring Festival Committee. This work
was completed with financial support from the
State Government, Redland City Council and the
Redland Spring Festival. |
 |
| Stage 8. |
Courts 2, 3 & 4 are
to be rebuilt (as per court 1 in Stage 6) with
new compacted road base underlying the synthetic
grass. This work will be completed at
strategic times to coincide with scheduled
surface replacement (as finances permit). |
|
| Stage 9.
|
The construction of
an additional synthetic grass court at the
north-eastern corner of our lease area. |
