Junior Club Championships

On Wednesday Night at 3pm the 2008 Junior Club Championships were held at the RLTA. We had an impressive field of younger generation players than last year due champion and finalist from last year now being too old. This opened the Championships up for the guys and the girls.

With two groups of five players each player got 4 sets in their pool then depending on if they finished 1,2,3,4 or 5th they then played the player that finished the same number in the other pool. To make a long story short every player got 5 sets and the two players that finished in the number one positions were Jayk Pascoe and Wade Fraser. Wade a new player to the club was far too strong for Jayk cleaning up 6-0. In fact Wade only lost two games out of his 5 sets of his Championship domination. I think Wade is ready for the challenge of playing with the adults.

In the girls it came down to who was more consistent in their pool of matches out of the twin sisters Suzie & Mary-Ann Knezovic. After being forced off the court for the past few months due to a bad back, Suzie came back bigger and better and was too strong for her fiery little sister who is sometimes said to be the John McEnroe of the RLTA.

Overall the afternoon ran smoothly and everyone was presented with prizes and a certificate.
