Who runs "campaignforkids"?

The basic idea was put together by the "Council of Australian Humanist Societies" but we want  this to become everyone's campaign.  You may put your letterhead on the papers you send out.  We would consider applications to take over the running of this campaign by experienced organisations who could run it without charge.

Why was this campaign started?

A regular contribution is made to a scholarship fund which sends about 70 children to school at Buduburam refugee Camp in Ghana where there are 500 Liberian Children in the streets because their parents do not have the money to pay school fees.
Parents of the 70 scholarship children report that they cant feed their children properly, who therefore cant do well in school.
Even in prosperous Australia similar things happen. In an Adelaide suburb there is a school where the local church every Tuesday and Thursday provides breakfast for every child.
We have realised that this and more is happening all over the world which led to the idea of running a campaign designed to increase expenditure on education.

Who should take part in this campaign?

Everybody! Especially You! Please send to everybody regardless of their politics or religion or sex or wealth. The whole community needs to take part for the kids and to reduce the threat of war.

Who should I report back to?

To the name and address of the person sending you the campaign sheets. If this is impracticable, to the address of concernforkids (see below).

Can I change the text to cover unusual circumstances?

You may add a paragraph explaining your concern and requesting your government to make suitable reforms but for the sake of consistency you should not alter the text.

Can I send the campaign to an overseas address?

Yes please! If you send the campaign in another language please send us a copy of your translation.  We welcome the formation of campaign centres in all countries to take charge of all operations in your country including mirror image web pages. Simply advise details by Email for publicity on this web.

Why are there two statements about the campaign?

We think they will appeal to different people, and the repetition of the main points may help to convince many of the importance of this case.

My friend says the government cant afford it.

First examine what your government spends money on. You will be able to find many items which are a waste of money. Then think about what the world needs to spend on education and health, world governments spend 20 times this amount on the military. What could possibly be more important than the education of children?

We already have adequate schools.

Every country has areas where aboriginals and indigenous peoples are poorly cared for. Every City has slums with homeless people. Your country may have dependencies usually inadequately cared for.
If your country is very prosperous, then you should consider training more doctors, nurses, engineers, scientists and agricultural specialists so that you can stop poaching labor from third world countries and be able to supply more emergency teams for disaster areas, world wide.
