Welcome to Maria Hilder's Home Page

Colour is a big influence on Maria's work. Bold bright colour and simple shapes, combined with attention to detail, dominate most works. Maria is influenced by what is happening in her environment at the present time, as well as her childhood and adolescence memories, spent in the bush of the Flinder's Ranges, which resulted in a genuine love of the rugged Australian environment.

Maria specialises in textile design, in the form of screen prints, hand painting, and machine and hand embroidery. She produces hand screenprinted tea towels, BBQ aprons and napiery on a commercial basis, as well as one off art pieces, combining hand-painting, free-hand machine embroidery, hand sewing and applique techiniques.
