| The other name for kiwi fruit is Chinese gooseberry. The kiwi has much of the flavour and character of the gooseberry. Which is why I sought out various old English gooseberry recipes and adapted them to kiwi. This is one of them. |

Dissolve the sugar in the water and bring it to the boil. Add the kiwis, stirring in well over the heat & then removing the pot so the fruit can cool in the syrup. When cool, drain the syrup & puree the kiwi fruit. Combine the kiwi fruit with the whipped cream & place in serving bowls, garnished with slivers of fresh kiwi. Serve chilled. | 1 CUP SUGAR 1 CUP WATER 2 CUPS PEELED AND COARSELY CHOPPED KIWIS 1 CUP WHIPPED CREAM |
