Brief History
It all began in 1970
-when Trevor had to build a fence to keep this most beautiful dog in
the property.
He came home and said – I would love one of these
dogs.
So it goes on
– we acquired our first Samoyed – a dog called Count Surji of
Beryozka,
and he was entered into a dog show, not that we intended
showing –
From there we developed this interest in showing, and have
done so ever since.
We then bought a couple of bitches, and eventually
had our first litters.
The first Champion we ever produced was a dog
called
Ch Toska of Kimchatka
Toska
From there we progressed
As time went on we saw that we could do better than the bloodstock
that we had – we then sought after new bloodlines to achieve that
goal. After some time, we went to Australia to buy in our first
import, but still we knew we could improve yet again. In 1978 we
took the bull by the horns and decided that we must look further
afield.
We enquired extensively throughout
England to the then well known kennels, and this lead to our first UK
import NZ Ch Novaskaya Silva Sunspark of Kimchatka” - she was the
turning point in our breeding programme. She was later followed by
Novaskaya Sleigh Chief, Novaskaya Tsarina Lafay and finally the
honey of them all “NZ Ch Novaskaya Silva Sabya - Sabya was to
prove the best producing bitch ever in New Zealand. From just 3
litters, she produced 13 Champions, 6 of which were Best In Show
winners at All-Breeds Championship Shows. Sabya herself was a Best
in Show winner at All-Breeds and Specialty Shows on many occasions.
We invited Glenys Grey to become part of “he Kimchatka Stud and to
this day she is still with us as Kimchatka New Zealand, and she has
since taken Joanne Hawkins on board as part of Team Kimchatka New
Zealand
We then moved to Australia
in 1989
-and registered our prefix, and to this day we are very active
in both countries. As a Kennel, we have produced in excess of 50
Champions and 13 Best in Show winners – a great achievement for any
kennel.
