After a few months in Perth we are now back on the road again. This time heading for a 10 week break staying at Cable Beach Caravan Park in Broome. In the past 5 1/2 years of travelling we haven't stayed in a camp for this length of time. This will be a new experience for us and we will see how we handle it.
We travelled from Perth up the inland route via Cue, Newman and Port Hedland eventually arriving at Broome. We heard that most caravan parks were full on the coastal route so it turned out to be a good choice with plenty of free and paid camping available. One nice spot was Bilyuin Pool which is on the Murchison River only 14kms off the main road. A dozen other campers thought it was a good spot too and there was plenty of room for all. The camps were on the edge of the river with lots of bird life for our amusement and the calls of the cockatoos as background music. It is so peaceful out in the bush again.

Munjina East Gorge
The gorge above was a scenic treat for us as we ate our lunch on the way to Newman. Most of the trip from Perth has been fairly flat with a few small mountain ranges to pass thru.

80 mile Beach
After topping up food and petrol in Port Hedland we stayed at 80 mile Beach Caravan Park for two days as we weren't due in Broome quite yet. Sandy disappeared to the beach almost straight away as this would be our first warm sunny beach day since before before we went to Tasmania. Sandy made the most of it. If you like fishing then this is the place for Threadfin Salmon which are usually caught in abundance here.

Cable Beach Broome
This is what we enjoy every day now that we have arrived in Broome. Sandy walks the beach every morning and we both swim and walk in the afternoon. The weather has been glorious with 28 to 30 degrees every day and clear blue sunny skies. The tourists have invaded and they are in abundance everywhere with the population swelling for the season.

The camels (now 3 groups) are a daily occurrence.
They head past our park in the afternoon getting ready for their sunset walk along Cable Beach returning after sundown.

Roebuck Bay apartments shrouded in a sea mist.
We have had most days where this thick, sea mist rolls in off the ocean blanketing everything in its wet embrace. Some mornings Sandy has returned from her walk looking like she has been walking thru sprinklers as she is so wet. Evidently this is normal for this time of the year but abnormally it has sometimes stayed well into the afternoon before lifting.

Stay safe, Peter and Sandy.
