Kes (born 4th March 2003)

I sometimes work long hours, and I didn't want Neelix to be alone for long periods of time, so I went looking for a second Ragdoll. When I was looking for my first Ragdoll, I left a message with a local breeder, but then Neelix's breeder contacted me. If you've read about Neelix, then you know the rest of that story. A week after I brought Neelix home, the local breeder returned my call. I went to visit her, and she seemed very nice. She mentioned that she wanted a presence on the internet, so I offered to create a web site for her in return for a kitten. She said she would like that, and would think about it. I tried to contact her 6 times over the next 4 weeks, and left messages with her family and on her answering machine, but she never returned my calls. Even if she decided not to go ahead with the web site, I still would have bought a kitten from her. Unfortunately some people are just plain rude.

Then I found Terri, trading as Furrballz, and she had 3 kittens available. I visited her and picked out a tiny little girl and named her Kes after the Star Trek character who was Neelix's girlfriend. She's a blue mitted with a blaze. Her purr is very loud for such a little girl, and she's very friendly and well-adjusted. Terri seemed very open and honest, and gave me Kes' history as the runt of the litter. She has also been very helpful with advice about Neelix, and she has said that I can contact her by email or by phone at any time. I would recommend Terri to anyone looking for a well-socialised Ragdoll.

When I brought Kes home, there were hisses and growls from Neelix, but she didn't seem bothered by him. For the first two days, Kes wandered around investigating her new home, and Neelix followed her everywhere, but growled if she tried to approach him. Then Neelix settled down and they started to play together. A week later, they were good friends.

Kes is an absolute darling. She purrs as soon as she is picked up, and licks my fingers. Although she is half the size of Neelix, she is the one who usually chases and beats up on him when they play!
