PURPOSE
STATEMENT
We,
the Southside International Church, see ourselves as a praying, worshipping,
multicultural family of believers who exist to glorify God by fulfilling the
Great Commandment and the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We
will do this by:
- Winning
people to Jesus Christ
- Building
them to mature believers
- Equipping
them to become effective workers
- Multiplying
leaders into ministries that will serve the church, community and the
nations
- Sending
them to win, build, equip, multiply and send others
OUR
VALUES
- We
believe that each persons primary relationship in life is their relationship
with God. We believe that we were created to enjoy a personal relationship
with God the Father through faith in Christ Jesus by an eternal work of the
Holy Spirit. That the Christian life is most effectively lived out in
community with other Christians in a local church and in co-operation with
other local Christian churches.
- We
value the written Word of God (Bible) and submit to its authority in all
matters of our belief and living. In doing so, we recognise that there will
be some diversity in conviction and practice among us as the Holy spirit
moulds us into a people living in commitment to Jesus Christ. We affirm
unity in essentials and grace in all other matters of faith and practice.
- We
value being one of the Christian and Missionary Alliance family of churches
in Australia and overseas. As such we are committed to an emphasis on Jesus
Christ as Saviour, Sanctifier, Healer, Corning King and to “Mission”. We
understand “Mission” to be the taking of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to
our neighbours, family, friends, workmates, fellow students. our community.
our Nation, and overseas, to “wherever” and to “whoever” God gives
us opportunity.
- We
value the work of the C&MA in Australia and overseas. Therefore, we are
committed to supporting that work through informed prayer, encouragement,
direct personal involvement, and active participation in the schemes for
administration and church planting.
- We
value the ministry of all believers and our intention is to encourage
ministry through the activities of a multitude of small groups. Every person
in the Church is encouraged to be active in a small group where they can
receive and give pastoral care, develop friendships, receive and give
encouragement, and be learning together with others. The ultimate purpose of
all small groups is to be a ‘team’ reaching out to non Christians in our
community through genuine and unconditional friendship. The “Small
group” is a building block of the Church community and all such groups
come together on Sundays and at other times for celebration, teaching,
fellowship and encouragement.
- We
value an environment in this Christian community/church which encourages the
active expression of unconditional love, acceptance and forgiveness, to
people of every nationality, race, and background. We place very high value
on Christlike attitudes in all our relationships.
- We
value a living, dynamic Christian faith which is generous in terms of the
giving of time, talents, finances, and hospitality.
- We
value both traditional and contemporary music and songs and will use those
that are most appropriate to the occasion, and which encourage all ages to
participate in meaningful praise and worship.
- We
value the beautiful diversity of gifts given by God to members of the church
for the building up of the church, and encourage the active use of all such
gifts.
- We
value involvement in ministry of both older and younger. We endeavour to
give everyone training and ministry opportunities which will enable them to
achieve their God given potential for God’s glory, the strengthening of
the body of Christ — the church, and the growth of the Kingdom of God.
- We
value the call God has placed upon us to be a church that reaches out to
people from all Nations.
- We
value the importance of simplicity, spirituality, and sacrifice in all what
we do.
