THIS ANTENNA IS CONSTRUCTED AND FED IN A SIMILAR WAY TO THE LINDENBLAD, THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BEING THE FEEDING ARRANGEMENT. DIPOLES LABELLED 1 ARE CONNECTED TOGETHER . DIPLOLES LABELLED 2 ARE ALSO CONNECTED TOGETHER. THE 2 PAIRS ARE THEN CONNECTED TOGETHER, WITH ONE PAIR FED 90 DEG OUT OF PHASE TO THE OTHER. THIS FEED SYSTEM GIVES COVERAGE ALMOST TO THE HORIZON, ALSO THE VERY DEEP NULL THAT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE LINDENBLAD, IS ALMOST NON EXISTENT. The most common material for construction is pvc pipe and aluminium tube, athough if cost is not an issue, copper pipe is preferable. Remember the satelites only transmit 5 watts so every bit of gain or sensitivity is crucial to a good received signal. And it goes without saying the same applies to the coax feed, use the best you can afford |
