As the sky grew dark, Venus and Jupiter formed a lovely pair just after sunset in early June. The two can be seen glimmering in this photo amongst the brilliant colours of twilight, just 40 minutes after the Sun had set. This photo was taken one day after their closest approach - at the time of the photo they appeared a mere 2 degrees apart. Despite the fact that Jupiter is the largest planet in our Solar System, it is easily outshined by bright Venus.
