Pulau Nias is an island which lies off the Western coast of Sumatra. The earthquake that struck in March 2005 caused much damage & destruction to the island's infrastructure. Nias has recovered from the disaster, and is an amazing place to visit, as well as home to some incredible waves.
Pulau-Pulau Batu (AKA Kepulauan Batu or the Tello Islands), a group of 101 islands just south of Nias, remains one of the last truly explored regions in Indonesia - many Indonesians on mainland Sumatra have never even heard of it!
