Samsung DVD-H40A - Have included a few images of the internals and possible meanings behind the components. This is a DVD HDD PVR box.

If you do intend to buy one, why not buy it cheaper. The company I bought mine from is currently selling them around $500. It's probably the cheapest option around for a HDD PVR recorder at the moment, as most others are still above $1,000. I got it from: QQdiscounts at Ashfield Mall in Sydney. They do have multiple shops (Auburn, Chullora), and they have a web site - http://www.qqdiscounts.com.au/. (27-Feb-2004).

Recycling Australia (or Non-Recycling as the case may be)

Yes, this is a bit of a laugh in Australia at the moment, but if you are serious about recycling go visit these guys on the web. They currently recycle most of the IBM/Compaq/Apple/HP stuff, but also accept deliveries of old computers, electronics, etc from the public.

Did you know that many of those local council pickups go to landfill! Like monitors which are toxic (contain lead)? If you are amazed and angered by this then why not get your stuff recycled. Note: They do charge a fee to recycle monitors ($10), but I think it's worth it.

Nothing in this area is going to improve until the Australian Government decides to get involved. Voluntary industry codes just don't work that well and I think they are a bit of a joke.
