About Studio Flamenco

Principals Emma Fernée and Susi Masi opened Studio Flamenco in January 2004.

Emma and Susi have studied in both Spain and Australia with teachers such as Alicia Marquez (Compañia Andaluza de Danza, Sevilla), Ramón Martínez (Sevilla), La Truco (Madrid), Pilar Ortega (Sevilla), Manuela Rios (Sevilla), Javier Cruz (Sevilla), Manuel Reyes (Madrid), Cristobal Reyes (Joaquin Cortes Compañia, Madrid), Concha Jareño (Madrid), Inmaculada Ortega (Madrid) and Marco Flores (Madrid).

In addition to teaching at Studio Flamenco, Emma and Susi are principal dancers and the directors of Studio Flamenco' s professional performance ensemble which has performed at various events and venues, including WOMADelaide 2006 and the Adelaide International Guitar Festival 2007. Emma Fernée

Emma teaches both flamenco dance and classical ballet and is a registered teacher of the Royal Academy of Dance. In addition to her work at Studio Flamenco, Emma taught flamenco and classical ballet for 6 years in one of Adelaide's most prestigious dance schools, the Sheila Laing Academy of Performing Arts. Emma also works with students in schools from pre to secondary school and with students of the SACE dance programme.

Susi Masi

Before joining Studio Flamenco Susi taught flamenco dance to adults and children in a number of Adelaide-based dance schools. She has also run workshops for dancers and other professional artists from a range of disciplines, including for ''Circus Oz', and  runs workshops in NSW and Queensland. She has choreographed for recent productions of Carmen and Bodas de Sangre (Blood Wedding).

Studio Flamenco Classes

Classes at Studio Flamenco are held in a mirrored dance studio.

There is ample parking alongside the building and the studio is easily accessible by public transport (Bus stop #8 on Goodwood Road).

Group classes with individualised attention are offered at a range of levels for children and adults. Private lessons are also available.

Student Performances

For students wishing to perform, Studio Flamenco provides many opportunities. Performances are given at festivals and events and, once a year, students work towards a theatre production.

On 6 October 2007, Studio Flamenco students presented "Fiesta de Primavera " at the Star Theatre.
