Steve lives in Port Lincoln, South Australia and runs his own business doing concreting, paving and landscaping. His practical skills in these fields eventually led to an interest in making forged metal sculpture.

He was basically self taught through experimentation and practice in iron work, and then completed a blacksmith course at TAFE in 1995.

Much of his inspiration for design comes from the coastal environment in which he lives. While he can turn his hand to all kinds of flora and fauna, he is best known for his distinctive marine life sculptures, from fish and crustaceans to the Leafy Sea Dragon which is the marine symbol of the state of South Australia. He has also been known to create a mermaid or two!
