East GippsIand Trails
East GippsIand has extensive goldfields around Omeo, Cassilis, Bendoc, Bonang,
and the Lower Tambo. These goldfields were accessed from Port Albert and Sale
and then often by steamship from Sale through to the GippsIand Lakes.
In addition to the signs located on the trails, 20 'remote' signs will be
installed and promoted in the GippsIand Gold Discovery Brochure. These signs
will encourage visitors to leave the beaten track and discover the remains of
GippsIand's (and Victoria's) lost gold heritage.

GippsIand Gold Discovery Trails is the result of the combined efforts between
Latrobe City, Baw Baw Shire, Wellington Shire and East GippsIand Shire. Thank
you to the tourism associations, business and tourism operators, community
groups and the small townships of the remote mountain areas who have all worked
together on this project for the benefit of GippsIand.
