Easter Venture (EV)
Super Splash (SS)
Snow Venture is also run annually over the second week of the July school holidays in the Victorian Snow fields. Numbers are limited so this is a first in best dressed activity - well worth attending.
This is the end of year break-up activity for
the best section in the Association - THE VENTURER SECTION! This activity is held on the
first weekend in December each year and has been held at places like Barmera, Roonka
and Milang. We aim to have you so relaxed, so laid back and so chilled that your folks won't know who
is walking into their house on the Sunday night.
This is also promoted as a good linking activity for your older Scouts so they can see
just how much fun we do have. Activities typically include land yachting, water skiing, climbing wall, canoeing,
sailing, volleyball, and loads of other not so energetic activities as well.
Your weekend is fully catered by some of the best caterers in town and we assure you will
not go home hungry.
You choose your music all weekend and there are movies all night on Friday and Saturday
nights.
Chill out in the cafe, kick a hacky sack around or just throw a frisbee to your mates.
So come along and join in all the fun!
SUPER SPLASH IS A camp for Venturers from all over
the state. Some activities run all weekend - even at 3am in the morning so
there is always something to do. Sleep at Super Splash is not optional, it is illegal.

Easter Venture
Easter Venture (E.V.) is
a major South Australian Branch activity. The aim of Easter Venture is to enjoy a four-day
break, hiking with friends in a competitive environment.
Each
year, a different theme is applied, and participants are expected to hike dressed
appropriate to the theme. Points are awarded for both hiking skill, and theme awareness.
At
E.V. you must hike around a planned course (the area changes each year) attending
activities organised by rovers and leaders. An activity stunt may involve a
Venturers knowledge about navigation or it may involve being chained to a cargo net and
having blue custard thrown on you. At the end of the day you go to a designated
Venturer Camp where more activities are provided and you can cook dinner
and catch up with Venturers from all over the state.
Camping skills are
also awarded points, which count towards the overall score. Venturers must be self
sufficient for the entire four days. Participants compete for an overall
E.V. perpetual trophy. This trophy goes to the team who complete the most hiking
checkpoints, comply with the theme in spirit and execution, complete activities along the
way and demonstrate good camping skill.

Snow Venture
Snow Venture is held each year for Venturers at the Bogong Rover Chalet, and is an awesome opportunity to learn how or to improve your skiing. (You soon learn if you haven't skied before Snow Venture is unbeatably the best value for money you can get for 8 days skiing, however also gives you a wonderful experience to appreciate some of Australia's awesome high county in the snow, while cross country skiing with other Venturers. We all travel together to the Chalet from Adelaide by hired bus to Mt Beauty in Victoria, and then commercial coach up to Falls Creek. The final leg of the trip to arrive at the chalet is accomplished on cross-country skis for 11km. There is a different theme each year for the trip and Venturers organise evening activities for everyone to participate in after the days skiing adventures, which are great fun. You may count Snow Venture towards part of your Queen's Scout Award provided all criteria are met.
Eligibility:
Have experience hiking and carrying a back pack, as Snow Venture is a physically strenuous activity.

Parents Dinner
Every year around September, our unit puts on a dinner for our parents. The dinner is held around a theme where both parents and Venturers dress up according to the theme. The Venturers spend many weeks prior to the dinner making decorations which a hung around the hall to emphasize the theme. The Venturers cook a full 3 course meal for the parents and so far have never poisoned a single parent!
Our unit also goes camping and hiking throughout the year - as well as many courses - such as Unit Management, Initiative, Leadership and First Aid.
