FAQ - Who & What is WAMASC
Who is WAMASC: WA Model Aircraft Sports Centre (Inc.) is registered with DOCEP under the Corporate Act.
What is the Function of WAMASC: WAMASC is the leaseholder and the facility manager of the leased area at Whiteman Park.
Make up of WAMASC: WAMASC itself is not a club, it only consists of representatives from resident clubs who fly model aircraft at this facility. On June 30th, 2006 there were 7 registered clubs at the Whiteman Park facility & they are the only members of WAMASC. The members are Boomerangs, CLAW, Skyscrapers, Swans, Thunderbirds, WAJMS and Whiteman Heli.
Each member club theoretically has the same representation at WAMASC, regardless of how many affiliate members they have.
WAMASC is made up of 2 delegates from each of the resident clubs, being 14 delegates in all. These delegates form the working Council and from these delegates the Management Committee, consisting of 1 Chairperson, 2 Vice Chairpersons, 1 Secretary, and 1 Treasurer, are selected. (This makes up WAMASC)
What are the Responsibilities of WAMASC: WAMASC's sole responsibility is to manage & develop the facility at Whiteman Park in accordance with the requirements of the lease agreement and as directed by the members, to ensure that appropriate insurance covers are in place, that safety procedures are in place to protect the public, member property and that rules are adhered to.
WAMASC has no standing with AWA or MAAA other than as the leaseholder and facilitators of the Whiteman Park airfield, which is the home of the resident clubs. WAMASC has no input into AWA or MAAA or the resident clubs other than matters pertaining to the lease or loan agreements.
The Boomerangs committee believe that democracy, proportional representation of member clubs, full compliance with the Constitution, By-Laws and the Act at the WAMASC council is vitally necessary for progress towards the common goal of improving our flying site.
