The focus of this band is definitely Nabe, the charismatic vocalist, but SO-ON★G isn't all about
Nabe. They're a very tight live band and they're all great musicians with distinctive stage personalities.
There are two guitarists, Tamu (rhythm) on the left with spiky black hair, and the bleached-blond lead,
Oka, on the right helping to create SO-ON★G's rich, powerful sound. Souther is a diva on drums.
The bassist CO*HEY (I was confused, I thought they said Kohi, and the old bassist was called Chai, so
I thought they had some sort of hot drink theme for bassists) is cool and is very popular
with the crowd. Nabe does all
of the talking and lead vocals, in a rich baritone that I could listen to forever.
Nabe writes their lyrics and the whole band is credited with the music. Their material is lively,
aggressive and sexy. The name means 'Noisy Temple'. Cool.
They have several CDs available at gigs, and at record
stores. In Japan anyway.
Their most recent album is "Dynamite Soul" (RAGG-017), released this year.
They tour a lot and always rock.
