Bacon

If you ever want to hear great music played for the sheer joy of making great music then go get some Bacon. "NeoPowerPop" rock'n'roll that's good to listen to and even better to dance to. The vocalist/ guitarist Koudo 'Koudy' Takuya is a musician's musician but is also ridiculously appealing and owns the stage. Moriyama Yui plays bass and Nagae 'Al' Yuji is on drums. Joining them on keyboard, when she's not busy with her own band "Hosome" is new member, Shikiko.

They're a great band. Lots of fun and, dare I say it, way cute. They also tend to draw a very happy, mecha-kucha-genki crowd who are great to dance with, although recently the crowds have dropped off a bit, due to their hiatus and lineup changes, I guess.

Bacon's recorded material is excellent and I've found it on Jpophelp. It's probably in a bunch of other places too. (What am I, your mother?) Their most recent album, "9 tracks Hi!" (THER-0001) came out on June the 11th 2008. The albums feature former member Yoshikawa "Shouhei" Hiroyuki on keyboards.

• October 23rd 2005 at Fandango    What a night. These were taken at the Fandango 18th Anniversary Party gig. Bacon were the first band up and the crowd were already going off. By the time the last band, Akainu, were playing Koudy and Shouhei were in there helping us. Check out the last photo. I should also point out that these photos show their erstwhile drummer, Murao Shuichi.
