Mach Pelican have called it quits. They played their last Oz show at the Tote in Collingwood on August the 25th. Then they played their last ever gig at Lush in Shibuya on the 17th of September and truly awesome it was too.
I'm planning to put up some final tour photos when I get time and I'm doing it in reverse order starting with the final show.
I'm leaving the profile as was for the moment.
So what's an Australian band doing on this site? Being that fucking good that I can't leave them off,
that's what.
I heard of Mach Pelican through the 50 Kaitenz and my friend Martin hunted me down some
of their older stuff which is not easy, unfortunately.
Anyway, I caught both of their Kinki gigs during their 2006 tour and they were 1) awesome and
2) really fucking awesome. Tight, fast, intense and with great tunes. They play a few Ramones covers,
which go down really well, but I prefer their original material. They're not the only band I know
where I like their stuff better than their heroes' stuff.
K Rock is on guitar and vocals (he does
the most lead), Atsu C Roll is on bass and vocals and Toshi 8Beat is drums and vocals.
Their third album 'Radio Action' was released in Japan (VSCD-3413) on May 17th 2006. It's a brilliant album. All three of the guys have written great songs for it, there's not a single dud, and there are a couple of cool covers as well. The Oz version has come out too, as well as the single "She's a Mod".
