These SACs and other resources have been put together by members of the network. Please feel free to modify them as you see fit for your students but make sure that questions cover the descriptors that you will be using. Sample rubrics have been included where relevant.

One of our members, Bruno Annetta, has produced an excellent computer animated exercise for students to get results for a monohybrid cross. It has the theory, activity and worksheet/SAC and can be obtained by emailing Bruno for $25.

If you can't get to a genetic engineering workshop then second-hand data will have to be acceptable. There are a number of activities that could be used from Manuals as well websites such as DNAinteractive www.dnai.org and any that can be found through Google looking for simulation and animation. Please look through the Links on this site for some very good possiblities.
If going to a workshop then use the materials provided as the Summary Report. You may want to then test knowledge, skills and understanding by using the following:
Report (O/C 2 Task 1) GTAC has a website with a number of excellent activities which students can do online and then give a report using the information they obtain.
Response to an issue (O/C 2 Task 2) There are a number of possiblities which include: genetically modified food, stem cells and the Genethics essay which can be organised on the GTAC website. The closing date for the essay is Friday 25th August. An assessment task can then be done in class under test conditions using the essay.

A FLOW CHART to summarise evolution: download Students are to write their understanding on the arrows or under headings and then contribute some of these to a big version drawn on the board.The Museum has a great collection of skulls and does an excellent lesson on primate evolution.
