PPF:
minib.ppf
A database with records already created for a range of minibeasts. Great for showing
children how a database works, how to create and search records. Links with a Science topic on
Minibeasts. Children could create additional records linked to the minibeasts studied in class.
PDF:
Minibeast
question sheet
Question and answer sheets extracting information from minib.ppf. Understanding of the language
of databases (fields, records etc) is consolidated. A set of questions that will extend childrens
knowledge and encourage active use of a database.
PDF:
Who am
I? (Teachers
copy)
An elimination worksheet encouraging children to actively use and search the minibeast database to find
out which minibeasts meet the criteria given. A useful assessment activity that tests childrens ability
to search, manipulate and match data. The important pieces of information are highlighted in red to aid
children in finding the answers.
PDF:
Question
sheet for MYCLASS file
A set of questions for children to answer using the myclass database. Focuses children on the
information available within the database and the scope of information provided. Involves answering
questions involving only.
PDF:
Question
sheet for MYCLASS file (Second sheet)
A more advanced set of questions for children to answer, involving 2 and 3 criteria. Will challenge the
more able child and develop understanding of how database records work with the class. A variety of
questions help children to think about and organise the data in different ways.
