Web Promotion Strategies and Techniques


Just for a moment forget that you're working on the Internet and imagine that you want to set up your own "real world" business. 

Let's say it's a car wash for prestige cars.

What would you need to do that?

You'd need...

  • Knowledge of... or experience in that business

  • Premises

  • Equipment

  • An inventory

  • Staff

  • A Marketing Plan

  • Advertising

  • Enough capital to sustain you until the business was profitable

  • Persistence and Belief in what you were doing

Now, let's look at this in terms of a Internet business.  What do you need?

  • Knowledge of... or experience in your the business

  • Premises (even if that means your own bedroom)

  • Equipment (your computer system)

  • An Inventory (in this instance your products)

  • Staff (not applicable)

  • A Marketing Plan (you do have one don't you?)

  • Advertising

  • Enough capital to sustain you until the business was profitable

  • Persistence and Belief in what you were doing

EXACTLY the same things !!

Simple... You need to have knowledge of the medium you're working in (in this case it's the Internet)... and a good understanding of the principles of the discipline of Marketing to grow your business.  

Now you can get to understand these principles a number of ways.

  • You can do a degree in Marketing at a respected University

  • You can gain extensive Marketing experience by working for Marketing companies.

  • You can educate yourself by reading a myriad of different books on the subject

  • You can learn from someone who has the relevant knowledge and has applied these principles to the Internet.
