Hello...

My name is Jesse Doyle, I'm an 18 year old (male) currently living in Renmark, South Australia.

Last year I completed my HSC in which I got a 95.65% overall mark. I've been accepted into 3 different Universities, and before I start my degree next year I intend to travel to South America (Lima, Peru and Santa Cruz, Bolivia) to do volunteer work. To achieve my ambition I have been working two jobs.

For additional information please click on the link (left, bottom) to see my attached resume.

I am writing to you to ask for your sponsorship help in the following areas.

* Airfares
* Medical
* Travel gear
* Digital camera with video capability
(for podcasting purposes)
* Laptop, or good computer connections in South America
(for podcasting purposes)
* Portable Recording equipment
(for podcasting purposes)
* Travel insurance
* Visa and Embassy

Now, I do not expect anything for nothing.

My Dad, who is an Internet Marketing Consultant, search engine optimisation, RSS and podcasting expert will run all of the web marketing and technological aspects of this "project" to give my sponsors maximum exposure worldwide, during my trip to South America.

In exchange for your help I propose the following:

1. To run a weblog (blog) of my preparation for this journey, and to continue posting to this weblog throughout the journey itself.

2. To post regular podcasts to this weblog, where I'll talk about my travel experiences and have interviews with people I meet along the way. My sponsors would also be interviewed - using an online conferencing system my Father uses for his online business - and the streaming audio of these interviews will be posted to the weblog. Visitors would then be directed through to the sponsor's web site.

These weblog posts remain on the Internet forever, acting as "doorways" to my sponsors' sites (when people search for specific information on South America or for "travel web logs").

All of my podcasts would include audio "commercials" for my sponsors, which will (again) direct listeners through to the respective sponsor's web site.

3. Do an Internet based PR campaign using PR web to launch the project/ event (as well as run additional releases during the trip). Press releases submitted to PRweb are picked up and distributed by Google News. There is a good chance that this type of story - "Young Australian blogs/ podcasts his trip to South America to do volunteer work" - will be picked up by mainstream media across the world.

4. Regularly submit the weblog and podcasts that I create to RSS/ podcast directories and specialist web sites to ensure maximum exposure on the Internet for my sponsors. For example one site, www.ilounge.com (an ipod resource and forum site) is ranked on the front page of every important search engine on the web. It gets in the vicinity of a half a million visitors a month. My Dad has a technique to get a message before www.ilounge.com visitors who are interested in podcasts.

5. Run a local PR campaign (press release submitted to local media) before I leave for South America.

6. Be available as a guest speaker for my sponsors when I return from South America.

Also, there are other ways (using the world wide web and these technologies) in which I can promote my sponsors. I can discuss these when we meet. Obviously time is of the essence here. A quick response would be appreciated (as I have to book my tickets very soon).

I will be phone you the week commencing Monday, 1st May to discuss how your company may wish to be involved.

Sincerely,

Jesse Doyle - Ph: 0411 340 191
PS... I already have two sponsors, being a) a professional recording studio (to ensure that the audio quality of the podcasts is excellent) and b) In Business Magazine. The Publisher of In Business Magazine (South Australia's premium business magazine with subscribers in 15 countries) has agreed to run feature articles during my trip about the use of these Internet-based technologies and the sponsors who are participating (something like a case study).
