Needs to be complete to be effective.  Optimization poor, needs attention

Contact me – “Service” page

Optimization is not crucial here, however it can be better optimized.

Links – “Service” page

Optimization is not crucial here, however it can be better optimized.
For example “skin care links” or “skin treatment links”.

TIER THREE…

The same pattern of poor optimization is repeated throughout the T3 pages.  Now, not all pages can be (or need to be) completely optimized.  However, when pages are not “optimized” it confuses the search engine robots.  They don’t know where to “file” the page.

In short you could be getting more search engine “juice” just by taking care of the core optimization of these pages.

INTERNAL PAGE TEXT LINKS…

The GOOD thing is that you’ve cross-linked internally from your T2 to T3 pages.  The not so good thing is that you have not used the correct naming convention with your text links, thus wasting an SEO opportunity.

TEXT links from T2 to T3 work best if the keyword of the T3 page is used in the text link on the T2 page.  Obviously this cannot be done all of the time, but it needs to be done most of the time (especially if you have identified that the T3 page has some keyword research interest (search count).

PAGE END TEXT LINKS…

Using the page end text links to direct people back to the top of your pages is a complete waste of these text links.  A better use of these links would be to direct visitors to a newsletter (Want more information on “keyterm”, then sign up for our newsletter) or to YOUR product for sale on treating acne.

BANNER FOOTER…

Using the banner footer for copyright notice is a complete waste of a site wide banner-footer.  People on your site need better direction as to where you want them to go, and what you want them to do.

A better use of a banner-footer is to direct visitors to the START of your sales funnel (newsletter, free report, demo video with an embedded affiliate link etc).

WEB SITE CONTENT…

The content of your site is good, However, on some pages it looks like you’ve run out of ideas and have just put the content up as a reason to plug in Google Adsense code.

INTERNAL AFFILIATE LINKS…

Throughout the site you have a number of affiliate links like this, “Need to get your acne under control fast? Check this out.” (or similar) This says “selling”.

A better way to use affiliate links is as follows, “This is one proven way to get your acne under control fast.”

The “benefit” for the visitor (if they click on the link) is that they will “get their acne under control fast.

No one likes to be sold and “Check this out” is a “sell”.

Now, this techniques needs to be used in conjunction with the keyword optimization of text link approach mentioned above.

GOOGLE ADSENSE ADS…

From my perspective Google Adsense ads (on their content network) are about giving away your hard work for “chump” change (cents on the dollar).  Google Adwords advertisers now have the option of turning off their adwords on the content network, and they’re doing this.

You get how much per click for acne related keywords?  Not much.

However, there are good numbers of people searching your site for acne/ skin care solutions.

These (below) are some screenshots of the clickthrough traffic on your site from the time you put it up.  What this data identifies is where people have gone on your site while they were visiting it.

Since the 12th of July 2005 you’d had 4,379 unique visitors click through on links, and 376 have clicked on links more than once.

This data tells me that people are coming into your site, a few are clicking on links and then they’re leaving.  In other words they’re not getting/ finding what they’ve come for.  The following data explains “what” they’re looking for…

Section 2 - Look for the high CTR percentiles above (right column)

Section 3 - Look for the high CTR percentiles above (right column)

Section 4 - Look for the high CTR percentiles above (right column)

Section 5 - Look for the high CTR percentiles above (right column)

Section 6 - Look for the high CTR percentiles above (right column)

Home Remedies for Acne – 10.94% (possible digital product)

Acne Cysts – 14.30%

Best rosecea treatment – 7.06%

Best acne face wash – 5%

Accutane journal – 104%
(big clickthroughs, ideal use of Web 2.0)

Note: These percentiles (above) need to be examined in association with the search numbers.

I need more information on what an “accutane journal” is about before I can comment further on how to commercially leverage this keyterm.

SALES PATH…

As you’re not selling anything here there is no sales path set up.  However, the above search stats indicate to me that there are a lot of people on your site who are not getting what they want from it, and this means an opportunity for you (your own product).

KEYWORD RESEARCH…

I use a number of keyword research tools (in addition to BrainstormIt).  I’ve attached keyword research data for the core keyterms “acne” and “acne treatment”.

Look at the column under KEI.
This strength of this number indicates if “content” will win the search engine war.

Any number above “10” is ok.

Any number above “100” is good.

Any number above “1000” is excellent.

Look at “acne treatment” and “acne medicine”.  Basically you need to expand the amount of content on your site using these keyterms.

How? Add a phrase before or after the keyterm.

And, I’ve attached this research as a text file.

KEYWORD ANALYSIS…

I ran an analysis to see where your site was ranked on the main search engines for “acne” and “acne treatments” (which would be regarded as the “theme keywords” for your site.  It was nowhere to be found.

The reason for this is undoubtedly related to the keyword structures you’ve used on your pages (as indicated above).

SEO ELITE Analysis

SBI Analysis (extract)

Notice that you have some good ranking positions here.

However, NONE of the rankings relate to “acne treatments”, which is the theme keyword you have used for your site.  This needs to be addressed in the keyword structure of all pages on your site. The way this is done is by adding “acne treatments” as the secondary keyterm on every page of your site as follows…

“page kwd”, “web site theme kwd”, “associated page kwd1”, associated page kwd 2”…

SUMMARY…

Web Site Structure:

The first thing that needs to be done is to correct the existing structure of the web site.

However, given that the site is well established in the search engines, changing the pages to much at this time would be counterproductive.

The following is recommended…

  1. Focus and expand the keywords (adding secondary terms) on some of the T2 pages. Tighten up the keywords on some T3 pages.
  2. Implement a better banner footer.  For the moment it would direct people to your newsletter.  Later it needs to be used to direct people to your own product.
  3. Fix the text links WITHIN the content of specific pages, so they’re better optimized in search engine terms.
  4. Fix the text links at the END of pages, so they direct people to somewhere more beneficial to you than “to the top of the page”.
  5. Add more content to some pages (especially the home page), and add more pictures to the site (to make it more “interesting” for the reader.
  6. Re-think the use of Google Adsense ads on the site.  It’s ok to use adsense, however I believe that adsense ads on every page trivializes your site, and…  a) doesn’t bring you a good enough return on your effort, and b) distracts the reader.  There are alternatives to Google Adsense that will “mix” it up. Your own product is recommended.
  7. Create your own info product on “Home Remedies for Acne”.
  8. Investigate how you can better leverage “Accutane journal”.
  9. Become more active with link exchanges with other quality “skin care” websites. You don’t have enough links in to your site.
  10.  Implement Web 2.0 on your site so that people can leave their solutions for skin care problems on your site.  This then becomes content for your site (more pages being built by visitors).
  11. Add an articles page section to the site so you can add articles on new acne treatments.
  12. Implement the blog functionality on your site, so you can make the content more “fluid”.  Pull your RSS feed into Yahoo, Google and MSN accounts.
  13. Update the site map, and submit it manually to the search engines.

Monetatisation:

As previously indicated Google Adsense is not the best way to make money from your website.  To make even a reasonable living you’d need to have a lot more pages on the site.

A far better approach is to have your own product to sell, mixed in with text links to affiliate sites… and a variety of other PPC systems (other than and/ or in addition to Google Adsense).

I believe that SBI’s Web 2.0 system is ideal for this site.  It allow people to comments, add solutions etc (thereby creating more content for your site).
