Hobart Bush Fires of 1967
Everyone has been taking about how the Canberra bushfires are the worst ever in Australia but I just talked to my Dad who went through the Hobart Bush Fires in 1967 and he cleared up a few things. Did you realise that 1400 homes were destroyed in a matter of 5 hours and 62 people lost their lives ? I didn't. I was born in 1968 1 year later. Let's hope that the weather today doesn't result in more loss of life and property. |
