The Passion

Ok it's late and I should be sleeping but I wanted to get this down whilst it was still fresh in my mind. You see I just returned from seeing The Passion of the Christ. Now I know what you're thinking, yes it was a moving experience and I did shed a tear or two but what I wanted to tell you about was what happened afterwards. You see the cinema that we saw the movie at was Cinema Nova in Rundle Street in Adelaide. After the movie when everyone was being quiet we walked out into the heart of the restaurant precinct and there the world was, eating, drinking, laughing.
They all looked as if they were having a good time yet in comparison to what I had just seen the contrast was startling. There was an emptiness and futility to it all which was brought into stark relief by the impact of Jesus death on the cross, a death that was for all those people and yet they were, and are, unaware of that fact. It made me want to tell them and show them that the sacrifice was for them more powerfully than anything had before. It really made Ecclesiastes make sense.
If you are reading this and you don't know Jesus go find out about Him, read the Bible, go find a church, pray and ask Him to show Himself to you. It's the only way that the emptiness in your life can be filled and the futility of existence without Jesus ended.
If you want to e-mail me about any of this I've set up a temporary e-mail address. The first 20 messages to that address will get to me.
